Joy Sigaud is the author of Editions Windrush and Black History Month Newsletters and Magazines. She believes it is paramount that we document facts, our rich stories and history for the benefit of future generations. She has edited a number of publications including BHM 365 for which she has written over 40 articles.She was also Editor of The Windrush 70 2019 Commemoration Magazine amongst other publications and interviewed former Prime Minister Theresa May at the height of the Windrush Scandal.
She has contributed to a number of publications and organisations including The Society of Editors, The Kensington Magazine the UNHCR refugee publication With You.
Joy Sigaud co-authored, edited and published the acclaimed book Jamaicans in Britain: A Legacy of Leadership, documenting the achievements of more than 500 people of Jamaican heritage and their contributions to British society. A landmark collaboration between the Jamaican High Commission UK, herselfand others, she wrote many of the key articles.
As a Composer, her music tells a deeper story of the Black Experience in Britain. Proceeds from her music have been donated to several worthy causes that benefit young people both at home in the UK, Africa and Jamaica. Her major musical works have been playedby the Philharmonia Orchestra and have been performed at Sadler’s Wells, The Orangerie Kensington Palace and The Britten Theatre. She was specifically commissioned to compose a piece for the Unveiling Ceremony of the Windrush Statue at The Whittington Hospital in London as a tribute to the NHS nurses who came from the Caribbean in the early days of the NHS.
In 2024 she was commissioned by ballet company Classically British & Co to write the opening piece for their 21st Anniversary celebration. She has since been invited to be their Resident Composer. Her composition, Resonance & Resilience was performed and choreographed by the prestigious Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance students and alumni respectively. The performance was also featured on BBC London.
