The Ode of the Black Series
MAKING A DIFFERENCE THROUGH MUSIC!
Contemporary meets classical – It’s a Jamaican story where reggae fuses seamlessly with techno and neo-classical with solo piano accompaniments. A composition of several songs and instrumentals about a young woman who comes to England in the 1950s to start a new life and in spite of adversities through sheer determination she is ultimately triumphant. The performance, Joy Sigaud’s first, raised funds for The Princes Trust towards young entrepreneurs (the Enterprise Programme), UNHCR women in the refugee camps in DR Congo providing vital provisions as well as supporting unaccompanied minors in Calais (France). The performers were virtually all volunteers a mixture of professionals and very talented novices. The Event was sponsored in part by Boodles, Donna Karan, McKenna & Co, Bluthner Pianos, Belgravia Gallery and many more.
Comment from The Princes Trust:
“It’s because people like you can see the potential in young people like Kevin that we can keep running programmes like Enterprise that help change young lives…”
